Family Entertaining Garden

Burghclere, Hampshire

The garden was rather dull with mostly a large lawned area, but with lovely brick wall boundaries. The brief was to design a family entertaining area with a firepit and a croquet lawn. Two seating areas were designed one for dining and another for lounging round a bespoke firepit. Materials used complemented the house with brick paths and a light-coloured limestone paving stone. A breakfast seating area was accessed via a path under a pergola to create a journey round the garden. A wasted space was transformed into a parterre with four box edged beds with the client’s regimental rose planted in each. A large area of lawn was retained for playing croquet.
