English Country Garden

Bucklebury, Berkshire

The Berkshire location is stunning within an area of outstanding natural beauty bordering meadows and ancient woodland. The clients wanted a garden design that enabled the garden to fit comfortably into this setting, with open views, whilst providing a haven from the client’s busy lives. Features included a black slate terrace next to the new glass extension, with a steel bowl water feature and grey aluminium planters for herbs. Simple gravel paths around the house lead past the sweeping lawn to an evening seating area. An area of woodland edge planting beneath the canopy of oak trees provides year-round interest with shade tolerant planting. This planting flows into a sunnier area with meadows beyond, where planting is designed to complement and merge into the surrounding landscape with swathes of naturalistic grasses and perennials.
